Cindy Derby is
a cross-disciplined artist from the Bay area of California. Her work utilizes a mixture of mediums including painting,
digital media, puppetry, animation, and installation. She loves to dabble with paint, weave yarn, read children's
books, and tidy up small spaces. She sleeps during the day and at night she lives in a world of objects paint and color
that transform into puppets.
Her favorite part of the story is when all
the loose ends tie together.
Cindy spent the past three
years creating visual theatre shows in Glasgow where she also received her Master of Arts in theatre from the Royal Scottish
Academy of Music and Drama. This is where she discovered her love for puppetry and was graciously awarded funding by
Puppet Animation Scotland to create a show that premiered at the annual Manipulate Visual Theatre Festival in Edinburgh. Cindy
recently received an honorarium and performed Edward's House of String at the REDCAT - Walt Disney Concert Hall for
the NOW 2011 festival. She is currently living and working in Los Angeles as a puppeteer, stop-motion animator and set
designer.
